01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

If choosing just one dish feels difficult, the “Twice as Delicious” half-and-half option pairs two pastas on one plate. Combinations include tarako butter with tomato cream, shrimp and mozzarella, as well as carbonara with tarako, yuba and mozzarella paired with octopus peperoncino. Each comes with soup. One diner who tried the carbonara and octopus peperoncino half-and-half here said the portion was satisfying. It is a pleasing way to sample both the tarako-led carbonara and the lively peperoncino in one meal.

For a single substantial dish, there is spaghetti with tomato and garlic. A diner described the flavours as well balanced, with a gentle garlic aroma and the acidity of tomato, and said the pasta was cooked to their liking. Another tomato-based choice is tomato cream with shrimp and mozzarella, for those in the mood for a creamy sauce. One diner recalled ordering it alongside mentaiko cream spaghetti and enjoying both.

For seafood, try the peperoncino with scallop, shrimp and yuba, made with Kyoto-style dashi. The menu also includes spaghetti with mentaiko, shrimp and shimeji mushrooms, finished with the flavour of aojiso, as well as mushrooms and bacon in Japanese-style butter and soy sauce. Yomenya Goemon’s menu gives a place to dishes that bring Japanese ingredients and seasonings into the mix.

The Zest Oike branch is described as suitable for solo dining, and offers lunch and dinner menus. Choose a plate of spaghetti at lunchtime or try a half-and-half combination. Seasonal sweets are another option after the meal.
